Group roles and permissions

Every group has one owner. Owners can also assign staff roles to help manage the group. Right now the supported staff roles are admin and moderator.

  • Owner: full control of the group. Owners can manage settings, access, features, bans, moderators, admins, ownership actions, bots, and other owner-only tools.
  • Admin: can manage most group settings and can manage moderators and bans, but cannot take owner-only actions or create or manage other admins, and cannot manage bots.
  • Moderator: can manage bans and help with live moderation, but cannot manage group settings, bots, or the staff list.

Who can manage staff

  • Owners can assign admins and moderators.
  • Admins can assign and manage moderators only.
  • Moderators cannot assign or remove staff roles.

Why is my group closed

A group may be closed by an EpikChat administrator for a number of reasons. For example, the group may have been observed violating the terms of use, or the group name may contain offensive or inappropriate language.

Removed from the chat

A user may be temporarily removed from the chat for violating the terms of use. In more serious cases, an EpikChat administrator may ban a user from the entire chat system. These bans last for 48 hours after they are issued.
