Safety Tips
EpikChat should feel social, welcoming, and under your control. A good safety setup starts with using the privacy tools available to you, being careful about what you share, and taking action quickly if someone makes you uncomfortable.
Use your privacy settings
- Review your Privacy settings regularly. You can control whether your account is private, who can view your photos, and who can open your followers and following lists.
- If you want more control over who can interact with you, switch your account to private mode and review your other privacy settings so they match your comfort level.
Be thoughtful about what you share
- Content shared online can be copied, screenshotted, recorded, or reposted. Avoid sharing personal information or anything you would not want saved or shared by someone else.
- Be cautious with your full name, contact information, school, workplace, location details, or anything else that could make it easier for someone to identify or contact you offline.
Use block and report tools early
- If someone is harassing you, spamming you, or behaving in a way that feels unsafe, block them. Blocking is one of the fastest ways to stop unwanted contact.
- If someone is violating the rules or making the platform feel unsafe, report the account or content so it can be reviewed.
Manage who can contact you
- Review your direct message settings if you want tighter control over who can message you.
- Pay attention to new follow requests and only approve people you are comfortable interacting with.
Trust your instincts
- If a conversation feels manipulative, pressuring, sexual, threatening, or suspicious, end it. You do not owe anyone your time, attention, or personal information.
- If you think someone may be impersonating another person, attempting to scam you, or trying to move the conversation in an unsafe direction, stop responding and report the behavior.
