    New features and improvements
    Version 4.1
    Thanks for using EpikChat! This update adds several new features and fixes bugs related to the 4.0 upgrade.
    New
    • You can now hide messages from bots that you no longer want to interact with.
    • Bot responses sent directly to users you have blocked will no longer display in the chat.
    • The /ask command has been improved to provide more up to date answers and information.
    • Streaming is now higher quality regardless of video size.
    • Setting menu improvements, favorite and blocked now show list counts.
    • Improved view request popup, fixed approve/deny issue.
    • Better rate limiting on chat commands.

    • Resolved issue where attempting to view could result in User Offline message.
    • Fixed issue with dragging/sorting live stream video windows
    • Picture-in-picture now closes correctly depending on the streamer being viewed.
    • Fixed bug that would sometimes cause chat font size setting to not get saved
    • Corrected issues with doodle app not displaying properly
    • Fixed issues with media streaming stability and connection issues for WHIP/RTMP external streams.

    New features, better live streaming, and more!

    Added
    • Native chat commands and AI tools are coming to EpikChat (view chat commands).
    • You can now add users to your own favorite live stream list and receives a notification or join the stream automatically.
    • You are now able to set your own activity status as online, away, or do not disturb. How to use this feature
    • Markdown support is now available for basic formatting options such as italic and bold. To format your text in italic put a single * before and after the text for example *this text will be italic* and use ** for bold.
    • Spotify link sharing is now supported in addition to YouTube links.
    • Improved message reply functionality and all new thread message view.
    • New user @ lookup functions for easier mentions.
    • Added new connection quality information in broadcast info popup.
    • New broadcast audience option "Friends (allow requests)" lets your friends view while still requiring other people request.
    • Rooms now show how many members they have
    • New feature now allows for screensharing on EpikChat!
    • Added option to start broadcast with audio or video disabled.
    • You can now stream to EpikChat from external sources (RTMP and WHIP supported)

    • Fixed issues with camera or microphone devices not being detected or asking for permission after it was already granted.

    • Fixed issue where room owners could not ban by username on the settings page and bug where a banned user could enter the room if an extended amount of time had passed.

    When watching a broadcaster that has their video turned off their profile picture will appear on the video stream.
    Clicking on users in the Friends section of the sidebar now allows you to perform chat actions such as viewing their cam etc. The list is also now sorted alphabetically.
    Fixed bug where online friends alert would show up repeatedly.
    Fixed bug that would cause the red mod status color to show up when it should not.

    You can now click on popular broadcast list names in the sidebar to open the persons cam or profile etc
    Fixed bugs with user blocking, chat history no longer displays blocked user messages.
    You can now set your chat theme to Auto and the theme will change between Light and Dark mode automatically and remain in sync with the device you are using.
    You can now have the chat notify you when closing your browser/tab if you have any unread direct messages. You can find this feature under Notifications

    Live streaming improvements & bug fixes

    We have rebuilt our video streaming infrastructure from the ground up to provide you with the highest quality streaming and improved stability:
    • New servers added to improve broadcast streaming quality and speed
    • Video can now be streamed in High Definition (up to 720p)
    • You can now change the broadcast settings without having to stop and start your broadcast, such as your camera (front/rear lens on smartphones), enabling/disabling private mode, etc.
    • Ability to remove individual viewers from your broadcast at any time.
    • Fixed issue with viewers list where users would not display the correct cam/idle status
      Fixed bug where Video/Audio mute buttons would not reset correctly when stopping and then starting another broadcast
    Improved drag and drop functionality for chat tabs and broadcast video. Fixed sensitivity issue where clicking on a tab icon would make it move slightly instead of switching to that tab.
    Improved the way chat notifications are displayed
    Responses from the EpikChat bot (?ping/pong) system are now marked more clearly
    Removed CUSTOM AUDIENCE global on/off switch, now the audience selection will function solely based on the settings in the Custom Audience popup
    Fixed issue where users on certain networks might have trouble viewing or broadcasting
    Bugs with the text input area and notification display on mobile devices have been fixed
    Fixed bugs that would allow some users to post GIF in a room where GIF was disabled, also fixed issue with the GIF button would sometimes not work in a Direct Message

    • EpikChat now supports Emoji 5.0 (Unicode 10.0)
      Today we added support for Emoji 5.0 which means over 60 new emojis from dinosaurs to zombies. We also freshly redesigned all the previous emojis and improved the picker to make them all easier to find.

      We have launched an official status page to help communicate any issues with our services including planned and unplanned outages. Please visit and bookmark status.epikchat.com to stay up-to-date on any service changes.
    • User profile changes
      Last online time will no longer be displayed on user profiles. While we understand it may be convenient to know the last time someone was online we felt this information was displayed too broadly. In the future we may implement a similar "last seen" status for users who you are friends with.
      We have changed the default profile and guest chat user photo. Our previous default photo was gender specific and did not encourage people to upload images that express themselves. This new icon feels more like an empty placeholder until you personalize your profile photo.
    • New EpikChat 2.0
      Today we are excited to announce the launch of an entirely new chat system which replaces the previous Flash Player based interface. Built from scratch, this new framework provides a fun, easier, and more secure chatting experience than ever before.
      Utilizing the latest HTML5 and WebRTC technologies, this new system does not require any plugins, and is compatible with more devices such as mobile phones and tablets.

    • Photo albums are now available on EpikChat.
      Look for the Photos section on your profile page to manage and upload new photos. Browsing and managing Doodles you created has also been improved.
      Any photos you previously uploaded as doodles have been moved to your new photo album.
    • Emoji party!
      EpikChatters love using emoticons so today we are releasing an update that will allow you to use all your favorite emojis right in the chat. This chat update also addresses the following issues:
      Fixes user menu buttons not working correctly, User interface bug fixes, General improvements
      New hotkey feature when using push-to-talk, hold down CTRL to activate your mic, New fonts for verified members

      Big news today, we're starting a public changelog so you're always up to date with all the updates, improvements and fixes that are made on EpikChat.
      Even though we work on EpikChat all the time, sometimes it may seem that not much is happening. This changelog is here to improve that very important part of the communication between you and us.
      You'll always receive an update when we change something in the widget on the top left of the chat page, or if needed all the things we've changed are available on this page.

    • Chat rooms which are used regularly will stay open indefinitely. In order to save space on our system, chat rooms will be automatically deleted if they have not been visited in the past 48 hours. You can always create a new chat room when you need to chat again.
